Work with us at Psyche MHC
Looking for a psychology, counselling or mental health role in Hobart? Or thinking about where your career might take you next? You might like it here.
Psyche Mental Health Centre is a Tasmanian private mental health practice with locations in Moonah and Sorell. We work with children, adolescents and adults across therapy, psychological assessment and a broad range of mental health presentations.
Our team includes psychologists from all walks of life, from clinicians at the beginning of their careers through to those with years of experience behind them.
Good clinicians. Good humans.
We could give you the standard recruitment spiel about being passionate, professional and committed to providing high-quality, evidence-informed care. And yes, those things matter.
But there's more to working at Psyche Mental Health Centre than what's on your CV.
We want people who are curious, collaborative and willing to keep learning. People who support the person in the room next door, ask for help when they need it, share what they know and don't take themselves too seriously.
You don't need to arrive knowing everything. You do need to care about doing good work AND being a good human while you do it.
A different kind of private practice
Working in private practice doesn't have to mean doing it alone.
Our clinicians have the support of an experienced administration team, referral triage and matching, formal and informal supervision, professional development and colleagues who genuinely talk to each other.
We offer employed psychology and mental health roles across Hobart, including part-time and full-time opportunities, with wages, superannuation and leave entitlements. We work with our clinicians to build manageable caseloads that consider experience, clinical interests and areas of practice.
Interns & early career clinicians
If you're completing postgraduate psychology in Tasmania, looking for a psychology internship in Hobart, or starting your career as a psychologist, we'd love to hear from you too.
We know there's a big difference between learning something at university and doing it with an actual human sitting across from you.
We don't expect you to know everything. We do provide supervision, support and opportunities to build your skills, confidence and independence as a clinician.
And yes, we have a no-BS policy.
We take our clinical work seriously. Ourselves? Slightly less so.
Psyche Mental Health Centre is professional without being overly corporate. There's room for personality, conversation, curiosity, laughter and the occasional bit of weirdness.
If you're looking for a workplace where you can do good clinical work, keep developing and actually enjoy the people you work with, we'd love to meet you.

Thinking of coming from interstate?
Beautiful beaches, national parks, bushwalks and waterfalls practically on your doorstep. Ridiculously good food and wine. And yes, an unreasonable number of cute native animals.
Tasmania has a reputation for moving at a slightly slower pace. We’re quite okay with that. It means less time commuting, more time actually living, and the kind of work-life balance that's much harder to find in bigger cities.
And when we complain that the Hobart peak-hour commute has taken more than 20 minutes, you'll know you've officially become a local.
This isn't an ad for Tourism Tasmania...we just really like living here!
The question is: why wouldn’t you come to Tasmania?
